A CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOREVER CHERISHED:
The husband reached out and wanted a special gift for his wife for Christmas!
During the creation process, it was important to emphasize that this is a hand-drawn treasure. The subjects are captured accurately and carefully, while the background fades in a satisfying flow, shaping the composition and adding some obvious pencil texture.
Artwork can capture the very soul and essence of a visual. Made by human hands and crafted with spirit and care, there is just nothing like it.
This couple now has a one-of-a-kind handmade artwork that is unique to them.
IN MEMORY OF A MOTHER:
The client asked for a depiction of their mother and sent a photo reference that was especially meaningful to them.
The mother’s face was the focus of this artwork, and it was my goal to accurately depict her softly, capturing the warm, tender smile, the calming eyes, and the gorgeous flow of the hair.
The background was subtle to add shape & create a misty, dreamlike atmosphere that captures the feeling of a memory.
A delicate 1-inch border was added for structure and a sense of class.
A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND PENCIL STROKES:
This is a personal project to add rich pencil texture to my favorite picture - my husband and I shortly before we got married!
The focus of the picture was on the faces, were I spent the most time adding the most detail. The background was added intentionally to remember the scenery of that beautiful evening where we nervously had our pictures taken (neither of us are comfortable in front of a camera, but we managed thanks to our amazing photographer).
Those memories came back as I was slowly building up layers of charcoal and moving around each corner of the page. It was a joy to relive that day and be reminded of the feelings of hope, love, and pure excitement for our wedding day that was to come!
